I forget to beat the man because I have to stand on my feet… Hundreds of such girls are filling the key to the job
About two decades ago, Nidhi Gupta left her high-paying job. At that time the age was only 24 years, so everyone understood as naive and explained… do not leave the job! But the heart and the mind had kept the same rut… Kuch Karna Hai… Kuch Apna Karna Hai and today because of his passion many women are getting employment.
A village story…
Village of Kamrup in Assam surrounded by green mountains. Like a betel nut in tall trees, it is tempting the sky. The chickens running from the middle of the mud houses also look happy. For centuries, the Rabha tribe has been living a life of peace in the silt of the Himalayas by selling betel nuts. Seeing women confined in a cotton sari with a red dot on their forehead on the unpaved road here, do not make the mistake of considering them as poor. These are all small entrepreneurs.
The women of this tribe, who once made a living by selling betel nut, are today making plates of betel leaves and selling them. This employment has not only filled their ladies purse but has instilled confidence in them. Alpana Das, a small entrepreneur, tells that her alcoholic husband does not work. In such a situation, after learning this new job, she has started earning 10 thousand rupees a month. She uses this money for the education of her children.
The credit for teaching this work to many women like Alpana goes to Nidhi Gupta. Nidhi Gupta is working to make women entrepreneurs through her organization Dhriti. Nidhi says that when the thin and delicate wrists adorned with red bangles operate the heavy plate making machines, it seems that my attempt to train them has been successful. Today about 1 thousand families are taking advantage of this.
The story of Nidhi starts from here…
About two decades ago, Nidhi Gupta left her high-paying job. At that time the age was only 24 years, so everyone understood as naive and explained… do not leave the job! But the heart and mind had kept the same rut...have to do something...have to do something for ourselves. Together with some friends, Nidhi would go round the companies for months with her new concept. Initially disappointed but today his organization is training many women to become small entrepreneurs.
Daughter changed her thinking about women entrepreneur
After the birth of the daughter, she realized that her responsibility towards the little life had increased. At the same time, Nidhi realized that the women associated with her organization would also face this problem. Then he made it a rule that any woman can come for training with her young children. All the things are available for the care of the children at the training site so that the mother can take training without any stress.
Beautifying my life by doing makeup
Today, with the help of Dhriti, a large number of girls are taking training to become a beautician. But it was not easy for all these girls. In this dream of opening a small parlor in the house or on rent, only the people of the house were becoming a hindrance. If someone's husband did not like the wife to go out of the house, then the father did not want to send the young girl out of the house.
Nidhi tells that once a girl's father started quarreling with her that because of him the daughter has started going out of the house (for training), which is not right. Nidhi says that later on seeing other women taking training in the institution, the father was convinced and allowed his daughter to learn the work. Whenever he meets him today, he does not forget to thank Nidhi.
Every woman has a story…
Nidhi tells that every woman has a dream and everyone struggles with their share to fulfill it. Some even beat up her husband because she had to do parlor training. She felt that if she would raise her voice against her husband, then she would stop leaving the house.
Nidhi tells that it is sad to see these conditions of women. There is no doubt that after becoming independent or standing on their feet, their value increases in their homes. They can spend money according to their own accord. Their self-confidence increases and apathy towards life decreases.
Women's voices are heard, their backgrounds, likes and dislikes are discussed before giving training about the industry. This discussion is called chai-garam. These days Nidhi is giving training to run a beauty salon in association with Godrej. 250 women are associated with this program. These women trained about 4500 girls.
If this chain of training continues like this, then the tears of helplessness will never drip from the innocent eyes and the laughter will never stop from the lips.
